FYI our little 2 year old went to a potential adoptive home with his 4 year old brother a couple days ago. Because he's so bashful, I was adamant that I wanted to make it a smooth transition for him and not hand him to a stranger on the curb in front of the office, so they let us drop him off at his new home with his brother there. The walls were completely covered with framed studio pictures of his boys; covered from ceiling to floor, literally. We met the dad who seemed like a sweet, honest man who loves the 5 boys now in his home and totally agreed with us about the benefit of a non-traumatizing transition. While I don't think he's going to sing My Bonnie to him at bed time, I think EJ will be just fine. Before the handoff I was a little sad to think about not seeing his smiling face any more, but the actual trade was easier than I thought it would be. And the peace afterward was startling. We watched a movie all the way through. I put the toilet paper on the holder instead of up away from a 2 year olds reach. It's the little things...
