Sun City it is not!
Sun City it is not! At least not this week when the El Paso area recorded low temperatures of 0 degrees! Plus a wind chill = 21 below in some places! I know, some of you living in MN where you received 40 some inches in a month laugh at El Paso closing schools due to .53 inches of snow, but it is a big deal around here. I t doesn't bother me much, but I am not as tough as I once used to be living in MN. I did stay home from work one day. The roads were very icy which led to even more traffic accidents than usual. Plus, the tri state area was having rolling blackouts due to system overload due to the cold. But Thursday and Friday I got to wear my favorite Sorel boots (that jeff thinks are hideous), dug out some warm hat & mittens and had the best commutes ever, since many people still stayed home. Jeff and Luis stayed home and quickly got cabin fever. It is starting to thaw out, but the pool still has a thick layer of ice on it.
UPDATE***now the city of el paso has institued mandatory water conservation. seems the power outages limited the water they could generate and the pipes bursting has increased usage. We don't watch much TV, especially on a Saturday, so I used all sorts of water on Saturday! Trying to be better on Sunday. The city is just livid at the utilities' comments...we were caught offguard by the storm,etc...really??? we knew at least a week in advance. Rolling blackouts supposedly didn't include crucial services (or my friend Lucia's house)...wouldn't crucial include the water utility??? As one lady put it, it's like we're living in a third world country! Guess I'll have to get out an auger for the pool...
